Celebrating Buddha’s birthday

“When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” ~ Buddha ~

Buddha’s Birthday, the birthday of the Prince Siddhartha Gautama, is a holiday celebrated in Mahayana Buddhism. In all east Asian countries, except Japan , it is held on the 8th day of the 4th month in the Chinese lunar calendar. The date varies from year to year in the Gregorian calendar:

2012: 28 April (28 May in South Korea, 29 May for Tibetan Buddhists, May 6 in India)

What I love most is the spirit and atmosphere of this special time of the year….
