Mid-week pondering: 生き甲斐 (Ikigai)

I am working on an interesting project  pondering on the japanese concept of 生き甲斐 (Ikigai), inspired by Janet McLeod  and the amazing crowd over at Six Degrees of Creativity 2.

The beauty and wonders of languages…. .

生き甲斐 (Ikigai)…. Few ways to describe the essence of that word….

“the Japanese equivalent of the French, raison d’être. In English, these translate respectively as ‘something one lives for’ and ‘a reason for being”.  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikigai)

I think the concept is better grasped by the nuance that Janet used: “what gets me up in the morning”

I made a gluebook (cover page in the photo) and just found it so interesting, powerful and revealing…that I am going to go deeper….

Feel free to join me in mid-week pondering posts, just leave a link to your posts:)
